What is Netflix?

As of June 2021, there are 16.7 million VoD-enabled households in Great Britain, as 57% are subscribed to at least one service, while figures for those taking on new subscriptions take a fall compared to last year.

£7.99 per month This membership allows subscribers to watch on one device at a time in standard definition. £10.99 per month Standard subscription - Viewers can watch in HD and on two devices at a time. £17.99 per month Premium subscription - Viewers can watch in Ultra HD where available, on four devices at a time.


Netflix has the largest subscriber count among streaming services.

Around 41% of Netflix users do not have to pay for their accounts due to account sharing.

Netflix was founded in 1997 and was launched a year later.





Getting the right age rating

Before the film was made the target audience was established as 15 due to some horror and violence and potential threat, so all promotional material needed to reflect this. We looked at a case study of 13 Reason Why to establish how what we could put in promotional material.












The audiences of Netflix

Netflix's target clients are young adults, teens, and low-middle-income families, according to demographics. Furthermore, with a diverse selection of foreign and international films, Netflix movies and Television series attract a variety of cultural backgrounds.


How Netflix Promotes their shows




Social Media

We developed a channel strategy to differentiate our approach on Twitter–as a way to speak through Wednesday as a character–and Instagram–as a way to promote the show. 


Through community management, we engaged with followers, always with a sharp and witty quip up our sleeve.




Secondary Research

in 1998 people could search online for movies they wanted and could get the delivered to their house which would only cost $6 $4 for the movie and $2 for the postage

in after a considerable amount of progress in 1999 Netflix then switched to a subscription based service people could get as many movies as they wanted so long as they payed the subscription each month but if they wanted another movie had to send the first movie back

in 2000 as technology advanced Netflix then built a movie recommendation system for their members so customers could rate the movies they liked so they would get movies recommended to them

in 2002 there were over 600 thousand users they went public

in 2005 Netflix had over 6.3 million user and offered a person or team to create the system $1 million


I looked how Netflix promotes their shows (sau21193427.wixsite.com) and started to develop my ideas around who I would lay out the press pack

I have included the conventional aspects in my pack but the Netlfix press packs were quite limited so I looked at https://www.apple.com/tv-pr/originals/home-before-dark/

 what makes this a good press pack? Include screenshots of the site, explain how you altered it

what makes this a good press pack is because i have included a detailed synopsis, a detailed tagline and some key scene shots that show what parts of the trailer was good



Development of the poster



Audience: the target audience is 15+ so I couldn't use explicit goriness but I did like the coloring technique, so I used this.


This is my final poster of fractured mind i got the poster from a game called fractured mind




I liked this effect because it gives off a very ominous and dark vibe i like the idea of it showing mental instability and i want this in my final poster










I tried the screen effect and it didn't work so i went to youtube for a tutorial on how to do it



the filter i used was glass because it looks like you are looking through a window which symbolizes they eyes are the window to the soul


Branding of Netflix






the reason i went with the wordmark one was because of Netflix's brand recognition and because it is much easier to recognize that its a Netflix brand. I hadn't put the release dates and branded with the original logo, doing this made it much better


there is a connection between the Wednesday movie poster and my own movie poster such as the date of release the title and the development of them both



















Before After I also used a Stroke technique I had learned, this has improved because you can see it better







Synopsis Development
